There is nothing better then a “Sunday Drive” to discover new places. Its a great feeling when we uncover a picturesque landscape, an ideal camping spot or even a popular place for a bite to eat. As the saying goes, SundayFunday. That it surely is. Living in Geraldton in 2016 we loved our ‘sundaydrives’ to find and discover what was close to the city. On one of our many drives we discovered a low cost camp that is Fig Tree Crossing Picnic and Camping area in Western Australia.
WHERE IS FIG TREE CROSSING CAMPING AND PICNIC AREA?
To find this low cost roadside camp, from Geraldton Western Australia you will need to travel along Chapman Valley Road for approx 12km and you will find the rest area. The rest area has many tall trees to help provide shade for your short stay. There is no lawns here, just dirt/gravel.
WHY CONSIDER CAMPING AT FIG TREE CROSSING CAMPGROUND?
Even though this Campsite is only 12km from a major city its still a nice spot to stay to have the bush lifestyle at your feed. Its only $7 per night in camping fees. Thats better than $30 to $50 you would pay in a City Caravan Park. Fig Tree Crossing Camping and Picnic Area has shaded seating areas, BBQs, Toilets, Dump Point and your still in range of Mobile Service. WIN WIN!
Important to note, this is a 24 hour stay only, so make sure you adhere to this policy.
WHY IS FREE CAMPING IN AUSTRALIA A GOOD OPTION?
Free camps offer the perfect opportunity for individuals, couples & families to stretch their holiday budget further and allow them to stay longer, or experience tourist attractions they may not otherwise be able to afford. There is loads of free camping sites in Australia and our best tip is to research before you head off so you can plan your journey and budget costs.
However free camping can sometimes not be what its all cracked up to be. There is the issue of campers not appreciating the free camps available to them. Some think its acceptable to dump rubbish after their camping stay. However it is not! Read our popular post about illegal rubbish dumping so you don’t fall into a bad habit.
